it's more fantasy than your usual ones but i thought about you bcuz of the protag. the premise is that the protag gets betrayed by his party and after his murder he reincarnates and seeks revenge. obviously he's starting from square one so there's an underdog aspect, but it skips childhood and gets into the powerlevelling pretty fast too.
tall, dark, handsome. stoic solo type and he starts out cold & distrustful after the betrayal but it digs more into his character later. not the most original plot in the world but some of the story beats were fun, it's like... fond of the genre & tropes, not just trying to capitalise on them.
hehe of course ^^ um so it was actually a paid serialisation and it just recently got a paid ebook release which is why i heard about it... so i bought you a copy.

"Ruby" didn't know the details of her friend's financial situation, but it is in her memory that he never read any paid stories, even those she thought would interest him. and it doesn't really matter if her assumption is wrong, because this is a normal gesture to make for a friend, right? she's never had friends but it seems normal??? ]

He's absolutely in search of a distraction (and is constantly on his phone), so the reply is almost immediate. Fandom friend..... save him. ]
